IDP partnership – the role of Vepple on Whatuni.com

Hear from Jon, Associate Head of Client Success, about Whatuni.com and how we shaped the IDP x Vepple partnership to bring students what they really want. Using data from IDP’s Offer Holder survey, IDP knew that Vepple would give students the freedom to explore at their own pace, in their own time, remotely and sparking that emotional bond was a moment that mattered. And, it’s not just at discovery stage. Students who have accepted their offers, still wanted to access virtual experiences.
The thing that stands out the most from the Offer Holder survey and how students want to explore universities is that the the big theme is moments that matter. So it’s this idea that a single interaction or experience with the university is what created or sparked that real emotional bond between the student and the university. So the role of Vepple in that is it gives students the freedom to explore at their own pace uh in their own time remotely with the environments that are going to be important to them when they arrive at university. What we found is that through virtual tours or online experiences you you can get as close as you possibly can to that to sparking that kind of emotional emotional connection. What we found from the offer holder survey which was a survey that we did post ECD so students have applied they’ve got their offers we’re still finding that students want to access virtual experiences even at that point in the cycle what that illustrates is is the durability of things like throughout the the full application cycle it’s important at the top of the funnel when that you’re choosing which universities you might want to go and visit for an open day but it’s also important later down the line when they’ve applied and they’re deciding which university is going to be my firm and which university is going to be my insurance. We know from the offer holder survey that the university website is the preferred channel to get information about course provision modules the university itself and importantly student life and now close second to that is in-person events. So, in terms of exploring campuses, virtual experiences are kind of bridging that gap between an in-person event and a sort of traditional university website and and the resources that that brings. So, that I think is is really what a student needs and what they’re expecting to get from a virtual experience on a university website.
